Weekend Riddle:
Our weekend riddle comes from Tom Amit, the Garden’s CEO: In the picture you can see our entrance lake was full of Nelumbo nucifera flowers – “The Holly Lotus” during the summer. Autumn is here and the plants are wilting.
Note that while in the center of the lake the leaves are still green, they are already yellow and dry on the outer perimeter.
Our riddle is: why is it so?

On the outer side, the water in the lake are shallower, so they cool faster. The plants there sense the cold temperatures and wither. In the center of the lake, that water is deeper and they maintain warmer temperatures for longer time – so the plants there are still green

The weekend riddle is published in Facebook every Friday noon, the solution is published in Facebook on the following Sunday, together with the publication on this site.
