The Vegetation of the Land of Israel
The history, culture, and religions of the Holy Land evolved during periods when the land was relatively sparsely populated and natural and agricultural landscapes dominated the region.
This day in the botanical gardens is dedicated to the landscapes of Israel and landscapes around the world, with a particular focus on trees and shrubs characteristic of the different regions.
We will begin with an overview of global vegetation from the equator to the poles, and then take a deeper look at the vegetation of the Middle East and Israel. We will discuss their environmental importance and their influence on human life. We will also examine local changes within these landscapes.
The day will consist of lectures and a tour of the gardens, during which we will see many examples and receive practical tools for incorporating the topic into guided tours.

08:30–09:00 – Gathering
09:00–10:30 – Lecture: What is the world’s vegetation and why is it important?
10:30–10:40 – Break
10:40–12:00 – Lecture: Israel’s vegetation, from the Negev to the Galilee
12:00–12:30 – Lunch break
12:30–15:00 – Garden tour, including a practical demonstration for guided tours.
* The number of places is limited; the program will take place subject to a minimum number of participants.
